Gelato vs Sherbet

Sherbet, also sold as Sunset Sherbet or Sunset Sherbert, is one of Gelato’s two parents: an indica-dominant GSC × Pink Panties cross bred by Mr. Sherbinski.1,2 Leafly’s genealogy and GreenState say a female Sunset Sherbet was made to produce the pollen for the cross with GSC, which makes it the pollen donor; Sherbinski’s own 2018 account, with the pollen taken from a “cookies x sherbert” plant, differs (see genetics).3,4,5 The parent tests lower in state labs: 20.52% median THC against 21.58% for Gelato.6

The same garage

Both strains come from Sherbinski’s garage in San Francisco’s Sunset District; Sunset Sherbert is named for the neighborhood and was itself an accident, a Pink Panties male pollinating a room of GSC around 2012.3,9 In September 2026 Sherbert was the top-selling strain in Montana.10 Sherbet has its own guide in the Official Cannabis network at sherbetstrain.com.

Which is easier to find

On Oct 4, 2026, at least 202 stores within 50 miles of Los Angeles listed Gelato flower on Weedmaps, against 38 stores for Sherbet; around New York the counts were 125 and 61. “At least” marks a market where the search hit its page limit.11
